Let's explore the Difference FCC image of Perth by examining eight different test sites. These sites were photographed on ground and from the air in August 1992.
The first of these sites is near the Bindoon Military Training Area located in the uppermost part of the Perth image. The Difference FCC image shows sharp-edged, dark patterns that we can interpret as landcover loss by clearing. This can be confirmed by eyeballing the 1974 and 1988 FCC images. Ground photographs show the nature and pattern of clearing of native vegetation and its replacement with crops and pastures.
