This test site includes two contrasting changes in the Difference FCC image that are readily interpreted by eyeballing the 1974 and 1988 FCC images. The white area (increase in landcover) represents the filling of the Wungong Reservoir. The nearby fragmented dark (landcover loss) and light patterns (landcover gain) can be interpreted from ground photographs as the landcover changes associated with active bauxite mining and revegetation of old mined areas. These are the Alcoa mines near Jarrahdale.
