Conclusion
Task 5 addresses the issues of making various sorts of remotely
sensed data accessible and useable at an appropriate level of
processing, together with documented standards. Important tools
for this task have been obtained at no cost to CSIRO, via interaction
with the Working Group on Information Systems and Services (WGISS)
of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS). This
technical group comprises data management specialists from space
agencies and international organisations which produce and make
use of Earth Observation products.
In the past CSIRO has been involved with CEOS at various levels
from the Plenary through to the working groups and task teams.
We have gained a number of benefits from this involvement. It
is important that the EOC remains involved with this group to
ensure that we remain compatible with the emerging standards for
data processing, standardisation, access and distribution of remote
sensing data.
